Position Purpose:

The Computer-Aided (CAD) Technician, as part of the Technical Services team, will play an important role in helping Clear Water as we grow quickly and expand into providing new services, work in new geographic areas, and solve new water treatment problems. The CAD Technician will perform a variety of tasks related to drafting and design and provide support to project managers and company leadership in achieving the goals of the organization. This position will be expected to also perform various duties and special assignments within the Technical Services Department. Teamwork, adaptability, and nimble responsiveness will all be critical to success in this role.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

As the CAD Technician, you will work closely with the Technical Services Manager and Project Managers to develop design drawings for water treatment systems and equipment and provide other design/drafting support. This position will also focus on the revision and updating of existing drawings and collaboration with shop and field technicians to accurately reflect the design changes and to ensure consistent documentation. The CAD Technician will also work on generating parts lists in preparation for system installation and building the equipment CAD library. The following essential functions are listed in order of priority, with associated anticipated workload:

  • Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (20%)
  • Site/Equipment Overlays (10%)
  • 3D water treatment system models (piping and equipment), BOMs (Bill of Materials) (40%)
  • 3D Approval and Production drawings for fabrication (5%)
  • As-Built drawings, Engineering drawings, SWPPP maps, etc (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned (20%)


Other duties may include the following:

  • Field support for water treatment
  • Data entry and water quality data reports
  • Lab treatability testing
  • Assistance with the company client dashboard program
  • Support for research and development projects
  • Technical support for Project Managers, as needed

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven work experience as a CAD Technician or similar position
  • Experience with AutoCAD; both 2D and 3D programs
  • Knowledge and ability to use tape measure, calipers, and other physical tools
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work independently
  • Associates degree in CAD or similar


Preferred Skills and Abilities
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical), Environmental Science or Chemistry a plus.
  • Experience with electrical schematics a plus.
  • Laboratory experience a plus.
  • Computer programming/coding a plus.
  • Experience with water treatment systems a plus.


Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Work is performed primarily in a controlled office atmosphere; however, the workspace is adjacent to Clear Water’s functional fabrication shop. The position will be expected to occasionally interface with shop personnel, during which all employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. Must be able to work under weather conditions in a construction or industrial environment. This position will spend approximately 80% sitting, and 20% standing/walking.

This position is open to remote work; at the discretion of the supervisor and the needs of the selected candidate, the CAD Technician may work a hybrid remote/office schedule.
