Position Purpose:

The Manufacturing Specialist, as part of the Production Services team, will play an important role in helping Clear Water as we grow quickly and expand into providing new services, work in new geographic areas, and solve new water treatment problems. The Manufacturing Specialist will perform a variety of tasks related to the creation, manufacture, and assembly of both routine and specialized equipment used in water treatment systems across the region. This position will be expected to also perform various duties and special assignments within the Production Services department, with and across various teams in our Everett-based original equipment manufacturer (OEM) production shop. Teamwork, adaptability, and a strong mechanical background will all be critical to success in this role.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

As the Manufacturing Specialist, you will work closely with the Fabrication Team Lead and the Production Manager to produce fabricated mechanical components that are precise, properly fitted, and safe to operate when deployed and operated by Clear Water field staff, clients, and other entities. You will need to read and understand mechanical diagrams, assembly instructions, and layout drawings; ensuring that the required parts are present. The Manufacturing Specialist will work closely with other teams such as our Design, Maintenance, Control Systems, and Electrical teams to ensure all components and equipment are built and functioning as designed and are ready to be installed safely and properly. This position will also be involved in the evaluation and quality control of products and equipment to facilitate effective and efficient treatment system builds. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization in their headquarters and will have the ability to do meaningful environmental work with the Fabrication Services team.

The following essential functions are listed in order of priority, with associated anticipated workload:

  • Performs bench and layout work, plating and fitting work, sheet metal work, paint spraying, and product assembly (35%)
  • Fabricate and produce parts to specifications using tools such as shapers, grinders, welders, etc (25%)
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and other information to establish fabrication needs (10%)
  • Pulling, preparing, and staging parts and equipment for system builds (10%)
  • Other shop-related duties as assigned (20%)

Other duties may include the following:

  • Working with Purchasing staff on product/equipment procurement
  • Field services/field maintenance support, as needed
  • General Production team support (shop cleaning, safety, inventory, etc.), as needed


Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Work is performed primarily within Clear Water’s functional fabrication shop. This position will be expected and required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas and while on site. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. Hiring is conditional upon satisfying a clean driving record, background check, and a pre-employment drug screening.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior work experience in a shop atmosphere as a machinist, welder, or fabricator
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Familiarity with PVC and metal work, such as welding, fitting, and assembly
  • Experience with safe use and operation of a variety of hand and powered tools and equipment
  • Experience with safe manufacturing practices in a production/shop environment
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from basic CAD drawings including construction documents, wiring diagrams, and plumbing schematics
  • Basic computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email


Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree in a trade preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of both low voltage and high voltage electrical systems a plus
  • Experience with industrial paint/spray booths a plus
  • Existing/current forklift certification a plus
  • Experience with water treatment: residential drinking water; commercial/industrial process water, stormwater, and/or wastewater a major plus
