Located in an industrial area of Seattle, Washington, this reload facility is used to collect, decant, and transport potentially contaminated dredge sediment and impacted upland soil. These materials are collected from various marine and terrestrial sites along the Duwamish River, and other sites throughout Western Washington and the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska. Most of the project’s process water is generated from the decanting of the collected source materials. All process water and associated commingled stormwater is collected in two centralized locations. Clear Water has assisted this facility with a pretreatment system to collect, contain, and treat all process water and commingled stormwater prior to discharge to the municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4). Clear Water designed and custom constructed a 250gpm treatment system that is tailored to target contaminants of concern under the Industrial Stormwater General Permit (ISGP) and our client’s King County Wastewater Industrial Permit. The system is scalable, with the ability to increase treatment capacity to 400gpm in the future.
