This manufacturing site in south Seattle hosted an active steel plant for decades. Due to soil contamination and the site’s location adjacent to the Duwamish River, regulations required stormwater treatment during the demolition planning stages.
Clear Water was brought in to manage the system due to exceedances of permit discharge requirements. The work included adding a control unit and chemical injection system to an existing sand filter and absorptive media system and placing up to 55 frac tanks on site to hold water for weekly testing before discharge could commence.
The site was decommissioned and fully demobilized 6 years after industrial processes stopped. Clear Water continues to operate and maintain the on site treatment system through regular calibrations and site checks, including monthly sampling as required by their permit.
