Protect What We Celebrate

Keeping Our Communities and Waterways Clean This Independence Day

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest days of the year. Communities gather for parades, backyard BBQs, fireworks, and celebrations that bring us together to enjoy the places we call home.

Unfortunately, holiday celebrations can also leave behind litter, food waste, fireworks debris, and other pollutants. Whether it's an industrial facility, construction site, neighborhood, or local park, anything left behind has the potential to make its way into a storm drain and eventually into our rivers, lakes, and oceans.

Protecting water quality starts with simple actions.

At Your Facility

  • Inspect BMPs and treatment systems.
  • Secure outdoor materials and waste containers.
  • Clean up loose debris and accumulated sediment.
  • Restock and verify spill response supplies.
  • Leave your site clean, organized, and ready for business.

Around Your Community

  • Pick up litter after celebrations.
  • Properly dispose of fireworks debris once it has cooled.
  • Keep trash and recycling contained.
  • Never sweep debris into streets or storm drains.
  • Leave parks, beaches, and neighborhoods cleaner than you found them.

Everything we leave behind needs to go somewhere.
Let's make sure it isn't our waterways.

Everything Flows Downstream

Storm drains aren't designed to carry away pollution. In many communities, they flow directly to local creeks, rivers, lakes, and coastal waters without treatment. That means a plastic cup left in a parking lot, fireworks debris left in the street, or loose materials around a facility can all contribute to water pollution if they aren't cleaned up. The good news? Preventing pollution starts with small, everyday actions that make a lasting impact.

Celebrate Responsibly

Whether you're preparing your facility for the holiday weekend or cleaning up after a backyard barbecue, every small action helps protect the waterways we all enjoy.

Happy Fourth of July from Frog Environmental!

Protect What We Celebrate.
